2018 Board Candidates
“To promote positive community growth and property value retention in our neighborhood.”
My name is Cleon Walden. I am a SC native and moved to Goose Creek eleven years ago after a twenty-year career as a Naval Officer.  My professional career started at the US Naval Academy with a B.S. in Physics and I earned an M.S. in Engineering Acoustics from Naval Postgraduate School.  An experienced business manager, I have been a KBRwyle/Honeywell Program Manager for eleven years, managing worldwide Industrial Control Systems installation and maintenance.  My professional expertise includes contract management, budgeting and forecasting, and design/maintenance of industrial systems.  Billie Walden, my wife for 28 years, is a Westview Middle School math teacher and a retired Naval Officer.  We have two college-aged children Trevor and Delaney and two rescued Dachshunds – Bolt and Gizmo.  I am applying for a Board position to support continued successful governance of our neighborhood community.

My husband Thomas and I have been residents of The Hamlets for 3.5 years. I am seeking an opportunity to help make our neighborhood as well as the other sub-division within Crowfield the best in the low country.  I enjoy the refuge our quiet community offers from a busy life schedule. I have met several fine residents who share the common goals of safety, security and tranquility within our neighborhood. I feel with my background I can help make a difference with new ideas, allowing our community to grow and prosper. My communication skills will allow me to listen and reach compromising resolutions. My life experiences include working as a Neonatal nurse manager at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, as a nursing instructor at the University of South Carolina and as a nurse educator at Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center will provide an awesome experience to the Goose Creek community.
I have lived and owned property in Crowfield Plantation since 1990 and enjoyed serving on the Crowfield Plantation Community Services Association’s Board of Directors about 10 years ago. I want to serve on Crowfield’s Board of Directors again because I hope to contribute to the well-being of our community, ensuring that it remains a great place to live. Among other organizations, I have served on the City of Goose Creek Planning Commission, Board of Directors of the Trident United, and Board of Directors of the Charleston Regional Development Alliance. My background includes graduation from Presbyterian College, commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army, and serving on active duty as a PATRIOT missile officer. I went to law school and was a shareholder and trial lawyer in the McNair Law Firm for almost twenty years until I formed my own firm, McSwain Law Firm, LLC.
